SCUM Manifesto

After reading and discussing the Valerie Solanas’ SCUM manifesto, it’s pretty clear that it is a very radical form of feminism. Though her extreme views come off very strong, she is also satirical and amusing throughout the manifesto. I believe the basis argument she poses is definitely true and is presented in the manifesto, however it is extremely overdramatized. Even the smallest things, like a man’s leisure time, is criticized. She argues that leisure time scares men because they can’t stand the thought of being alone with their “grotesque self.” She goes as far as arguing that men are incomplete females. “To be male is to be deficient, emotionally limited; maleness is a deficiency disease and males are emotional cripples.” It’s hard to agree with her sentiment because some (majority) of the things she says are, for lack of a better word, psycho.
